Having people to talk to about math has made me feel like I belong in the math community and hearing about their projects has been inspiring.
I’ve always been drawn to research, fueled by a wide range of interests. However, picking just one subject to focus on never suited me well. My undergraduate degrees in Computational Mathematics and Computer Science: Game Design reflect this eclectic mix. When considering what master’s programs to pursue, Applied Mathematics, in particular, caught my attention because of its practical tools that can be applied across multiple scientific disciplines. I chose the Scientific Computing and Applied Mathematics M.S. program because it offers a great blend of courses that prepare me for a career in research. Additionally, the content directly applies to many of the topics that I find interesting such as Computer Graphics, Simulations and Machine Learning. My favorite part of the program is the people that I’ve met so far. They’re very supportive and their excitement is infectious.
